FIPS Challenge #1 - The Unmapped Monument

I apologise for the long delay between posts. I have been working on an investigation that has been taking much longer than expected. However, it has put me face-to-face with a number of new situations and I thought others might benefit from exposure to those same challenges.

My recent OSINT work has taken me (digitally) to As-Suwayda Province in Syria. In trying to geolocate a series of videos depicting potential war crimes, I turned to an un-conventional source: drone footage.

Syria, like many places in the world has very poor Google Maps coverage. Not only is streetview virtually non-existent but there are very few annotated locations, especially in the countryside, and I don't have much confidence about the ones there are. It's not uncommon to be looking at a town or village and have only one or two locations pinned, a school, a shop, or maybe a religious building.

To help get a lay of the land between satellite and ground-level footage, I have found that drone footage posted on YouTube or TikTok can help characterise otherwise unmapped villages.

While doing so, I came across this video:

Challenge briefing:

The video above depicts a monument in As-Suwayda Province, Syria. Using the video and any other resources at your disposal, answer the following questions:

Question 1 [EASY]: According to Wikipedia, what is the English name of the monument seen in the video?

Name: Monument to the of the of

Question 2 [HARD]: Give the coordinates of the monument as ///what3words?

Location: /// . . effort

Hint: Use satellite view to select the location of the center of the monument column.
